Quick and innovative revamping by Oppent
STARTING REQUIREMENT

Request of revamping the fleet of 7 ECART it had previously supplied, with the addition of 2 new modernised ECART.

SOLUTION PROVIDED

With 274 beds for patients in intensive care and 72 public health service beds, Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital in Spain has established itself as a key healthcare facility for all of southern Catalonia since it introduced mobile robotics in 2011. Oppent recently revamped the mobile robots it had supplied in the past, resulting in a fleet of 9 ECART also with new benefits. In terms of energy efficiency, the recharging of the batteries and the mobility of the robots was improved: the new vehicles can rotate 360° about themselves. This enables the new fleet to keep going and continue providing its services, saving time. The vehicles are also equipped with perimeter scanners and sensors that detect all nearby objects.

AIMS
  1. Provide robotic transport for 15 hours a day, with a load capacity of 500 kg, making 350 journeys for a total of about 100 km a day
  2. The fleet of 9 ECART was used for all services compatible with robotic transport, i.e. general warehousing, catering, medicines, linen and waste
